Fireworks Galaxy (NGC5946) and Ghost Bush Cluster (NGC6939)

The Fireworks Galaxy and Ghost Bush Cluster are located in the constellations Cepheus and Cygnus. The Fireworks galaxy is about 25 million lightyears away, while the Ghost Cluster is within the Milky Way at about 4000 lightyears away. Imaging the Fireworks Galaxy is somewhat difficult as it is occluded by interstellar matter and numerous stars due to its location on the galactic plane of the Milky Way.

This image was made with a Nikon Z7 II and a Nikon 600mm f/6.3 lens at f/6.3. A total of 101 40 second exposures at ISO 3200 were made for a total of 67 minutes of exposure time. Star tracking was with an Fornax LighTrack II. Raw image files were converted to 16-bit TIF images using Rawtherapee using AMaZE de-mosaicing. Images were stacked using Deep Sky Stacker. The stacked average image was then stretched and color corrected using a custom Python program with some final image processing in Capture One.
