Outdoor Gear
Whether I am hiking, climbing, or out doing photography, having the right outdoor gear is essential for both comfort and safety. As such, I have spent a lot of time figuring out what works best for me. Good research certainly helps but, in the end, it all comes down to simply trying things out in the field. A lot of things like boots might seem just fine in the comfort of home but end up problematic in actual use. That is why I like to test things out on shorter outings before depending on them for extended trips.
As far as brands, I like Arc’teryx, Patagonia, Marmot, and Mountain Hardwear for most of my clothing. For other camping and climbing gear like tents, sleeping bags, and packs I generally go with Big Agnes, Marmot, and Osprey. I pick and choose among them as each brand has certain items that I often prefer over the others. There are a number of other brands I also like for some of the more specific or specialty items listed. I am not sponsored by anyone or necessarily loyal to any particular brand. I just go with what works best for me. All my gear was bought with my own money, so what I think or write is my own view.
