As a photographer, gear is central to what I do. As such, I have accumulated a number of cameras, lenses, and support gear specific to the areas of photography that I work in. I may not always be the first to get the latest and greatest gear, but I am always looking to improve things where it makes sense. A lot of my gear has changed lately, however, as I have almost completely switched everything from DSLR to mirrorless. I primarily use the Nikon mirrorless Z-System for my astrophotography, wildlife, and ancillary landscape work. Some time ago, when I was looking for a lighter alternative to DSLRs, I also started using the smaller and lighter Fuji X-system for dedicated travel, backcountry landscape, and photo essays.
